Since the late 1990’s, Blair Garrou has focused on funding, operating and incubating startup software companies.  He is a co-founder of DFJ Mercury, a seed and startup venture capital firm based in Houston, Texas.

Prior to co-founding DFJ Mercury, Blair was the CEO of Intermat (acquired by IHS), a leader in product information management software; a Principal with Genesis Park, a Houston-based private equity firm where he led investments in FuelQuest (acq. by Saracen Energy), Intermat and SAT Corporation (acq. by Invensys); helped launch and was the Director of Operations for the Houston Technology Center, the largest tech incubator in the Southwest, where he led the formation of the Houston Angel Network, one of the largest angel investment organizations in the U.S.

Blair is aslo a co-founder and Board Member of SURGE Accelerator, a mentor-driven seed accelerator focused on entrepreneurs seeking to solve the world’s energy problems using software.

DFJ Mercury’s sole focus is seed and start-up investing.  DFJ Mercury initially invests between $100,000 and $1.5 million into an opportunity and will build syndicates for investments needing larger amounts of capital.  They typically lead the first round of investment, and expect to invest between $2 million and $5 million over the life of an investment.
