RevTech is pleased to announce the initial close of a Series A funding of Birdzi, a mobile engagement platform for small- and mid-sized grocery chains. Headquartered in Iselin, New Jersey, the company’s product is used in over 200 grocery stores today, driving millions of relevant digital offers to consumers each month. The new funding of over $1 million will be used by the company to expand both its sales and product teams, also to launch a new wellness initiative in partnership with ScriptSave, one of the largest providers of prescription savings plans for grocery store pharmacies.
“When we raised the Follow-On Fund last year, the aim was to facilitate larger seed rounds for those alums of our accelerator demonstrating high growth,” said RevTech Managing Director, David Matthews. “While we certainly didn’t expect to lead a Series A funding this soon in our experience, it’s not surprising given the entrepreneurial talent RevTech and its mentors are attracting.”
As with most of its investments, RevTech was connected with Birdzi through one of its mentors. Birdzi was a client of Jeff Ketner, President of Ketner Public Relations in Austin, and Jeff saw the potential synergy given RevTech’s focus on product and technology innovation for the retail industry.
