We are thrilled to announce that Arcade has decided to open a permanent Dallas office.
A graduate of the 2016 RevTech Ventures program, the Australia-based startup recently made two new hires to lead Customer Success and Business Development for Dallas. North America will be their primary market and Founder and CEO, David Cherrie will be splitting time between the U.S and his Melbourne office where their team will be mostly working on engineering and product development.
Arcade provides a SaaS solution for retailers that uses gamification to equip and engage their staff in improving their sales and customer service. The idea for the startup came to Cherrie while working as a sales rep in Australia. “I worked as a retail sales rep and often felt bored and undervalued by the company. To pass the time, our team and I created a sales game using excel, where we would challenge each other every day to make the most sales. As a result, the culture of our team grew stronger, our customers became happier and of course our sales increased. Our store went from the bottom tier, to the highest selling store nationally” said Cherrie.
David always knew he wanted to expand his company to North America. The obvious choice was to begin in Silicon Valley, but he soon realized that Dallas was going to be key to growth. “We had never built a company in the States before, and knew that it was vital we align ourselves with mentors/investors with domain experience in US retail and growing high-scaling business. We found that the team at RevTech Ventures not only had what we were looking for, but were also incredibly passionate about our business and supporting it to grow.”
RevTech Ventures Managing Director David Matthews sees Arcade’s success as a great proof point for growing a retail startup in Dallas. “At RevTech Ventures, we’ve been saying for years that access to customers and talent is more important than access to capital. With Arcade, we brought them $100,000 of investment; but access to large customers and great talent is what moved the company from San Francisco to Dallas.”
Arcade’s customers include Samsung, UnderArmour and Singtel. The company is currently rolling out a multi-store pilot with a large Dallas-based retailer.
